Skin Tag Removal

What are skin tags?

Skin tags are growths on your skin that usually appear where the skin folds (such as the neck area, armpits, groin, under the breasts and eyelids). Although they are painless, will not become cancerous and are not harmful to health, they are annoying – and often unsightly.

Skin warts are tiny non-cancerous growths (1 to 3 mm) made up of blood vessels and fat cells covered by skin and attached to the skin by a stalk. They are found in both men and women, and more so in people over 50. Experts cannot explain why they grow , but family genetics, body weight, and diabetes tend to be common factors for people developing skin rashes.

Causes of skin tags:
• Family genetics.
• Body weight (obesity).
• diabetes mellitus.
• Abrasion of the skin.
• Hypertension.
• High cholesterol.
• Hormonal changes.

Don’t do:

Despite the many warnings some people try the “do it by yourself” approach they are not effective or safe to do at home and are not recommended for treatment without professional knowledge. Suggestions such as tying the skin grafts with string or using chemical peels can cause infection, bleeding or burns. Natural home remedies like apple cider vinegar and wart removal are not effective. Vinegar, in particular, can cause a chemical burn and permanent scarring.

Treatment methods for skin tags:

Cutting – the doctor anesthetizes the area and cuts the skin tag at the stalk. It can cause a little bleeding but it stops with aluminum chloride.

Electrolysis – This method uses a form of burning with electricity. After using a numbing cream on the area, each mole of skin is touched with the cautery machine which causes it to shrink for a few days and eventually fall off. No pain, blood or scars.

Burning with liquid nitrogen – liquid nitrogen is placed on the lesion and freezes the cells. During the liquid suffocation the cells die and then frostbite, blisters form and then the blisters turn into scabs and after a week or two new skin is formed. The treatment is simple but its disadvantage is that it is not good for treating deep skin lesions and may leave a white scar.
